Frequently asked questions
What is the last date to file ITR?
For income earned in 2025-26, the due dates in 2026 are 31 July for ITR-1 and ITR-2, 31 August for ITR-3 and ITR-4 without audit, and 31 October for audit cases. See our compliance calendar.
Which tax regime is the default?
The new tax regime is the default. You can choose the old regime if it results in lower tax, for example if you have significant deductions.
What if I miss the due date?
You can file a belated return, generally by 31 December, with a late fee of ₹5,000 (₹1,000 if total income is up to ₹5 lakh). Interest may also apply on unpaid tax.
Can you review a return I prepared myself?
Yes. Our return file review checks your income, deductions, regime choice and form selection before you file.
What changed with the Income-tax Act, 2025?
Tax rates and slabs stayed the same, but the Act introduced the single "Tax Year" concept and renumbered sections and forms. For example, the old Section 80C deduction now sits under Section 123.
